Podiatry vs Foot Care Nurse

Podiatrist diagnose and treat conditions of the foot & ankle. Many no longer perform routine nail care. Foot Care nurses are trained in performing foot and nail care in a holistic approach. Foot care nurses will refer to podiatry when appropriate.

Nail salons offer a pedicures performed by a nail technicians. Many do not have the training of high risk clients such as seniors. Also the sterilization standards differ from those of a Foot Care Nurse. While spa pedicures are can be very relaxing, they are not recommended for high risk individuals. We offer Medical Pedicures.

ABOUT
Katie Sikel, RN

ABOUT
US

Katie Sikel, a registered nurse with over 20 years of experience, founded The Foot Nurse, LLC in 2016. Her nursing career includes work as a Cardiac Nurse at United Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital, and the VA Hospital, with the majority of her career spent in home care. During her 13 years in home care, Katie recognized a significant unmet need for foot care. Determined to fill this gap, she pursued specialized training at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, earning a certification in foot care. Since then, Katie has been dedicated to providing expert foot care and helping others maintain health and mobility.
Passionate about addressing the growing demand for quality foot care, Katie is committed to training other nurses and serving the community. In her free time, she enjoys raising her children, traveling, reading, and staying active.

My mom had her first visit from Becky at the Foot Nurse yesterday and it far exceeded my expectations! Becky knew exactly how to work with my mom (hearing impaired, sight impaired, and dementia). It was wonderful to see my mom smiling and laughing. She can't wait to have her come back! Just an outstanding service all the way around.

Maria

Veronica did amazing work on my 80 year old mother who suffers from ingrown toenails, calluses and excessive thickening of a couple toenails, as well. The before and after is incredible. I only wish we had taken pics! Anyway, I can’t say enough good things about this company and what they do for people. A well needed service done right!

Wendy

This is one of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had with an at home service. The Foot Nurse Katie was amazing. Patience, Kind, professional, and very respectful with my mom who has Dementia. She was on time, efficient, and soft spoken. I highly recommend this service for anyone who needs foot care at home.
